Welcome to our Jambo Page!  Welcome to our Jambo Page!

May 2009 - This page is offered as an example for other troops putting together 2010 Jambo pages, and for parents/Scouts looking for information about the last Jamboree.

8/4/05 - **NEW** - Photos loaded... more to come.

7/20/05 - EAT before you meet the bus. You can take food on the bus. All drinks must be in bottles with a screw on lid. Don't forget your picture ID.

7/15/05 - New link added for Parent and Vistor Information.

Yes, you will need knife, fork, spoon, plate, and cup . These items were left off the equipment list.

Here is information on contacting your son in an Emergency: Because of limited facilities for telephone communications at the jamboree site, all incoming calls to persons participating in the jamboree will be handled on an emergency basis only, as follows:

  • Emergency phone calls must be made to 804-633-1000.
  • Messages will then be delivered to the jamboree participant.
  • If a return call is necessary, the requesting party will phone from one of the public telephones located throughout the jamboree site.

7/12/05 - Frequently Asked Questions are now available in the Forms section. We will update as additional questions come in.

6/30/05 - **CORRECTION** - The meeting tonight is at Carmel Presbyterian Chruch, not Sharon as stated below. Sorry for the confusion. The email from Bruce was correct.

6/27/05 - Two dates in two different locations have been set for patch pick up: 6/29 from 6:30 to 7:30 at Huntersville Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Hall and on 6/30 from 6:30 to 7:30 at Sharon Presbyterian Church, Scout Hut. We will also have troop patches for sale. Contact Assistant Scoutmaster, Kevin King with questions.

6/03/05 - The menu for the time at the Jamboree has been added to the Information and Forms section below. If you are interested, you can download it to see what you will be eating at the Jambo.

6/02/05 - For those parents that offered the Troop use of a Garden Cart, please email Harmon Newton or call 704-400-2020. We would like to use them at our June camping weekend. Thanks!

5/31/05 - Added TROOP T-SHIRT AND HAT ORDER FORM in download section. Each troop member needs to complete the form and return to Assistant Scoutmaster, Kevin King no later than June 10. The form is needed to get the correct size of t-shirts for each boy and adult. Every participant will receive 3 t-shirts and a hat as part of the troop and council fees. If anyone is interested in purchasing additional shirts or hats, please indiciate on the order form. Shirts are $12 each and hats are $9 each.

The shirt is light blue with our troop patch on the back surrounding with the four patrol patches. On the front is printed, Troop 1602, MCC, 2005 Jamboree.

The hat is also light blue with navy trim. A plane matching our Gateway is outlined on the front with Troop 1602 over it and 2005 Jamboree in the back. The hat design will be available for viewing Wednesday night at the Gateway work night.

5/24/05 - Added PERSONAL EQUIPMENT LIST into the Forms and Information section.

5/20/05 - Our Patrol patches have arrived. Please see ASM Kevin King Wednesday to get yours from him.

5/10/05 - We are coming down to the wire to get our Troop 1602 t-shirts and hats completed. If you know of someone that can donate these items or help with the cost, please let Assistant Scoutmaster, Kevin King know as soon as possible. We are also willing to allow tasteful advertising on the shirt in exchange for a donation.

Please bookmark this page and check back often for updates and reminders. We're getting closer to the Jamboree -- be prepared!

GOOD NEWS! There is no deadline for ordering Troop 1602 patches (see below). Download the order form (log in required) and send it to our Assistant Scoutmaster. Order as many patches as you can -- a portion of the proceeds goes back into the troop funds and helps defray costs for everyone in the troop. The number of patches is limited; order now to get what you need... these patches should be in high demand at the Jamboree. Why? Because the blue color of the sky is actually white -- until you go out into the sunlight -- then it turns blue. The special UV thread makes the patch VERY SPECIAL to collectors and for trading. Cost per patch is $4.
